The museum consists of three wings: the existing building, the old Cabral Palace and the new building.

The Cabral Palace is reserved to the entrance, bookstore, restaurant on ground floor and the permanent exhibition on the 1st floor.

The new building of Temporary Exhibitions Nave, with ceilings of 8,30m, can accommodate large-scale works according to the international law conditions (light, ventilation, air conditioning, assembly services, etc.).

The service wing unites these two buildings and separates two outdoor spaces, one to maintenance services and the other is a patio Museum/terrace with public access along Rua Emidio Navarro.
