ENEL starts commercial operation of the Lagoa dos Ventos Wind Farms

Enel Green Power started the commercial operation of the Lagoa dos Ventos Wind Farms, the largest wind farm currently in operation in South America and the largest of Enel Green Power in the world, located in the municipalities of Lagoa do Barro do Piauí, Queimada Nova and Dom Inocêncio, in the state of Piauí, Brazil.
The Lagoa dos Ventos Wind Farms have a total installed capacity of 716MW, with 230 Nordex/Acciona wind turbines AW125-3.0MW and AW125-3.15MW, HH120m and will be able to generate 3,3TWh of clean energy annually, avoiding the emission of 1,9 million tons of CO2, equivalent to the planting of 28 million trees annually.
This project, with afaplan Owner's Engineering services, also included the construction of two substations, one with 138kV and the other with 500kV, and a 500kV Transmission Line with a length of 91 km.
