2020-06-05
Voltalia announced the commissioning of the 47 turbines at the Ventos Serra do Mel 1 Wind Farm, located in Serra Branca, in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil.

The wind farm has an installed capacity of 163 MW and is fully operational, producing the equivalent of the energy consumption of approximately 442,000 Brazilian households. The electricity generated by the park will be sold at fixed prices for a period of 20 years, through contracts secured in December 2017.
This project, with afaplan Owner Engineer services, is inserted in what is considered the biggest cluster of wind and solar parks in the world, in Serra Branca. With a total capacity of 2,4 GW, the site covers an area of approximately 40000 hectares within a 50 by 15 kilometres area. Currently, the site includes 472 MW of operational parks, 278 MW of parks under construction and a further 329 megawatts of capacity that are not yet under construction, but for which energy sales contracts have been secured, plus over 700 megawatts of projects under development.
