2020-05-15

On May 6, the Major Seminary of Évora signed with afaplan, the contract for the supervision and security coordination of the works of Recovery and Requalification of the Holy Spirit Church of Évora.

The church, built by the Jesuits in the distant years of 1566/72 and classified as a National Monument, will have restoration, structure and consolidation works, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, water and sewage, museums and exterior accessibility works, to be completed within 18 months.

This intervention, which follows a strategy already started at the Church of São Francisco, requalified between 2014 and 2015 with afaplan Management and Supervision and awarded the Construir 2017 Award for Supervision and Coordination, aims to provide the building with all necessary conditions to make it a reference point for the cultural, religious and touristic heritage of the city of Évora, namely with the regular opening to the public and access to previously reserved spaces, such as the sacristy and the extraordinary set of mural paintings on the ceiling, articulating grotesque compositions with the cycle of paintings about the life of Santo Inácio de Loyola, founder of the Companhia de Jesus (Jesuits).
