Comerc Renew, part of the Comerc Energia Group, has started operating a solar power plant in the city of Castilho, in São Paulo state, with an installed capacity of 269 MWp.

The unit, which will supply energy to Eucatex and Grandfood (PremieRpet) through a PPA, had an investment of R$925 million, of which about R$500 million correspond to the plants that will serve these companies.
The Castilho Complex is composed of five solar generation units - Eucatex and Grandfood will be part of three of them. The work allowed the energization process to start ahead of schedule in three months, and the plant will already be able to supply the energy needs of up to 100% of PremieRpet and 50% of Eucatex, which is approximately equivalent to the consumption of more than 60,000 homes for a family with four people.
Altogether, the complex will help to avoid the emission of 235,000 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere per year. The partnership with Eucatex and Grandfood alone will be responsible for avoiding the emission of 120 thousand tons of this total, a number equivalent to the CO2 absorption of 840 thousand trees during 30 years.
Comerc Renew expects to reach 1.8 GWp of installed capacity by the beginning of 2024 and already has practically the totality of this amount committed with partners.
The engineering services for the owner of the complex were provided by afaplan, and are part of the - GW of solar energy that afaplan has helped install.
