Slope Stabilization in the Leixões Line

afaplan will be the company responsible for the coordination and inspection services of the Slope Stabilization works on the Leixões and São Gemil Junction Line.
The intervention, promoted by Infraestruturas de Portugal, aims to strengthen the safety conditions of the railway infrastructure, as well as to improve access to the Port of Leixões, enhancing the transport of goods by rail.
The work, with an associated investment of 4 million euros, is aimed at the geotechnical and structural stabilization of 11 excavation slopes, and respective containment structures, where there are signs of instability, which could compromise railway safety, due to via landslides and falling blocks, with damage to railway operations in two strategic connections for the traffic of goods and connection to the Port of Leixões.
The contract was awarded to the consortium EXTRACO, Construccións e Proxetos SA / MISTURAS Obras e Proxetos SA and the project was developed by GEG Engineering, with a deadline of 540 days.
